Fin and Fowl Collection

The other designer on my team and I created a collection of artwork that would be applied to pet collars, bowls, and toys and appeal to people who enjoy hunting and fishing. Below are the pieces in that collection that I created. The Mallard Duck was created for hunting dogs, and the Bluebird and Goldfinch were created for cats.

Cat Scratchers

Cats enjoy getting into enclosed spaces, especially cardboard boxes. So I created these Cat Playhouses to fulfill cat’s love of cardboard while providing an aesthetically pleasing house for the customer. The houses would come disassembled and the customer would need to assemble the house. These Playhouses have sold in Aldi for the last three years. We started with three Christmas Playhouses, then have expanded to all seasons as Aldi realized how much cats and their owners love these houses. I have created about twenty five playhouses in the last three years and have a utility patent on the way these houses fit together.

Melamine Cat Bowls

These melamine cat bowls were sold in Walmart stores in 2015. My objective in designing these was to create colorful, youthful cat bowls

Super Food Dog Toys

I was given the objective to create some plush dog toys. I decided to create toys that played off human’s love of super foods. These toys are modeled after super foods that are safe for both humans and dogs to consume. From right to left we have; Super Broccoli Brooke, Super Blueberry Beatriz, Super Avocado Alvin, and Super Sweet Potato Stefan.

Clown Fish Treat Dispensing Cat Toy

This Cat Toy was designed as a way to dispense treats to cats. The way it rolls around when nudged encourages cat’s natural instincts to hunt for their food. When filled with dry cat food, this toy works well as a way to slow down cats who tend to eat their food too fast.

Wobble Cat Toy

One of my coworkers brought in some wobble toys for kids, and as we were messing with it we thought it would be a great cat toy if it were smaller and lighter. This Wobble Toy was designed as a result of that brainstorm session. This wobble toy is weighted at the base just enough so it stays upright, but still light enough that the cat can pat it around easily. The feathers help keep the cat excited to play and the egg shape slides around surfaces easily. The cat’s we tested it on loved playing with this toy.
